Bucs, Eagles play nail-biter

The Buccaneer baseball team fought it out against the Maple River Eagles in a 10-inning game.

The Bucs and Eagles played in Minnesota Lake on Thursday night and the two teams remained evenly matched. It was an Eagles player that crossed the plate in the bottom of the tenth inning giving Maple River the win with a score of 6-5.

Brandyn Olsen accounted for two of the Bucs runs. Although he was 0 for 3 hitting, it was his watchful eye at bat that got him two bases on balls.

Dallas Barslou was 1 for 4 at bat and had one run.

Carter Hanson had three RBIs and took two bases on balls. It was his hard-earned run that caused some excitement for the Bucs, when he stole home in the seventh inning.

Christian Haugh took two bases on balls and scored one run for BEA.

Olsen pitched seven innings for the Bucs. He allowed three walks and five runs off of five hits. He also had seven strikeouts.

Barslou came in to pitch for three innings. He allowed two hits, one run and four walks.

Game 1

BEA 12, Waseca 1

The Buccaneers beat the Waseca Bluejays twice this week.

The Blue Earth Area baseball team traveled to Waseca on Tuesday night to play in a doubleheader.

The Bucs only allowed their opponents one run in the first game which ended with a score of 12-1.

The Bluejays scored the first run in the game. However, Christian Haugh was able to cross home plate for the Bucs in the first inning to even out the score.

After that, the Bucs bats were hot and most of the batting lineup was able to get in on the action.

David Franta was 2 for 4 batting and crossed home plate twice for two runs. He also hit two doubles and had two RBIs.

Brandyn Olsen was also responsible for two Bucs runs and was 2 for 4 hitting. He hit a double, a triple and had two RBIs.

Carter Hanson brought in three runs for BEA; he was 1 for 3 batting and had two RBIs.

Dallas Barslou was 3 for 4 hitting and had two runs and two RBIs.

Haugh was 1 for 3, scoring two runs and two RBIs.

Alec Huber also crossed the plate for a Bucs run.

He pitched all seven innings of the first game of the doubleheader. He allowed one run, four hits and one walk. Huber also had six strikeouts.

Game 2

BEA 7, Waseca 5

The second game in the doubleheader was just as successful for the Bucs, who tallied another win with a score of 7-5.

BEA took an early lead in the game and kept it throughout.

Quinn Huisman pitched three innings. He allowed four hits, four runs and two walks, and had two strikeouts.

Dallas Barslou pitched two innings, allowing two hits, one run and had three strikeouts.

David Franta was 2 for 3 hitting and had one run and two RBIs.

Christian Haugh was 2 for 3; hitting a two-run home run and a double. He had two runs and two RBIs.

Brandyn Olsen was 2 for 3 hitting and hit a double and had one run.

MLGHECT 4, BEA 2

The Blue Earth Area baseball team played against Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman on Monday night in Blue Earth.

The MLGHECT Mustangs brought in the first runs of the game which kept them in the position for a win.

The Bucs kept the score close but ended up with the loss, 4-2.

David Franta pitched all seven innings for BEA. He allowed four runs off four hits and had four walks. He also had seven strikeouts.

Both Seth Anderson and Carter Hanson had an RBI in the fifth inning.

Crossing the plate for the Bucs were Dallas Barslou and Brandyn Olsen.

Olsen was 0 for 3 batting but got a base on balls. Barslou was 1 for 4 batting.

WEM 6, BEA 3

The Blue Earth Area baseball team hosted Waterville-Elysian-Morristown last Saturday.

WEM started off collecting runs in the first couple innings, and BEA tried to catch up in the end of the game.

However, WEM defeated the home team by a score of 6-3.

Quinn Huisman pitched four innings for the Bucs. He allowed four runs off seven hits.

Alec Huber also took the mound for BEA, pitching three innings. He allowed two runs off of two hits and two walks. He also had two strikeouts.

He accounted for one of the team’s runs after he took a base on balls in the fifth inning.

Dallas Barslou was 2 for 3 batting and had one walk. He accounted for one run and had one RBI.

Seth Anderson also had one RBI and was 1 for 4 batting.

Reid Rasmussen was 2 for 3 batting and crossed the plate for a BEA?run.

Carter Hanson had one RBI?for the Bucs as well.
