BEA girls golf team snags second place
Led by Autumn Drake’s co-medalist score of 88 (40-48), the Blue Earth Area Buccaneer girls golf team grabbed second place at the Class AA Section 2A South Sub-Section Tournament at the North Links Golf Course in Mankato last Tuesday.
Second place means the girls will compete as a team and individually at the Section Tournament on Monday, June 3, at the New Prague Golf Course.
Besides Drake’s sub-90 score, Natali Fellows carded a 94 (49-45), Aeli Olson a 104 (52-52) and Anna Aukes came in with a 114 (55-59) to round out the Buccaneer’s team total of an even 400.
In first place was Fairmont with a 376. In third was St. Peter and Waseca who both came in with identical scores of 410.
Maple River was in fifth with 475 and NRHEG was sixth at 580.
BEA’s Drake shared medalist honors with Fairmont’s Lizzie Larson who also had an 88. Drake’s 40 on the front nine was the lowest nine hole tally of the day.
In addition to the all the members of the top two teams, the next 10 lowest scoring players also advance to the Section Tournament.
Other Buccaneer scores on Tuesday in Mankato included Ashley Peterson with a 129 (66-63) and Signe Olson with a 132 (67-65).
