Bucs baseball team nearly pulls off upset
The Blue Earth Area baseball team almost pulled off an upset last Saturday against Fairmont in the opening round game of the Section 3AA Tournament.
The Buccaneers traveled to St. James to play the Cardinals, the number one team in the South Central Conference standings and ranked fourth in state standings.
BEA was able to keep their opponents scoreless until the sixth inning.
It was then that Fairmont’s Levi Becker crossed home plate for the Cardinals’ lone run which won them the game.
Brandyn Olsen pitched all six innings for the Bucs. He allowed one run, four hits and two bases on balls. He also had four strikeouts.
Luke Becker pitched for Fairmont. He allowed three hits, issued one base on balls and had nine strikeouts.
Batters for the Bucs included; Dallas Barslou who was 1 for 3, Brandyn Olsen who was 1 for 2 with one base on balls and Seth Anderson who was 1 for 3.
The loss against Fairmont ended the Bucs season with a 6-12 record, 1-5 in the SCC.
