BEA cross country competes in Jackson

The BEA boys and girls cross country teams participated in the Jackson Invite last Thursday at Loon Lake golf course.

“We had some strong competition today,” coach Tom Plocker says. “The Bucs competed well.”

Boys Results: MCW 32, Worthington 47, Luverne 74, JCC 114, Windom 137, Mt. Lake 145, Springfield 183, BEA 183.

Zach Vaske led the boys for the fifth consecutive race with a personal record 18:57. He improved 38 places from last year and clocked his first sub-19 time.

Seth Becker (20:44) and Kyle Mercer (20:47) were not far behind for the Bucs. They helped each other to top-half finishes. Becker ran for a new personal record.

Gabe Jacobsen (22:48) and Alex Benson (22:55) ‘keep on continuing to improve steadily’ according to Plocker.

Adam Buseman: 23:25; Jaxx Jacobsen: 24:31; Nick Shure: 24:44; John Lindsey: 26:04; Jack Nimz: 26:53; Johnathan Cole: 30:36.

Boys JH (1600 meters): Every boy that raced recorded their new personal record. Bobby Lindsey: 5:58; Sam Welker: 6:07; Carson Anderson 6:07; Gunnar Fering: 6:07.

Girls Results: Luverne 47, Mt. Lake 79, Worthington 90, JCC 96, MCW 104, BEA 116, Windom 159, Springfield 196.

Taylor Grandgenett ‘blasted out of the gates,’ according to Plocker and clocked a 17:06, bettering her ’12 finish.

Shayna Stevermer (17:51) sped to her best time in over a year and sis Jenna Stevermer (18:03) narrowly missed a personal record. The two both improved by 11 spots from last year.

Girls JH (1600 meters): Melissa Hagedorn (6:43) and Callie Stevermer (6:49) both ribboned to lead the JH’ers to a second place team finish.
