Bucs lose 3-0 in section playoff
The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers volleyball team may not be advancing in the section brackets, but they gave it their all.
The Buccaneers traveled to Waterville-Elysian-Morristown to kick off section playoffs. However, WEM defeated the girls in maroon and gold, 3-0.
“The girls came out strong and played competitively in all three sets,” coach Donna Nawrocki says.
The scores of the three-game match show the Bucs’ fight to keep the sets close, 25-13, 25-19 and 25-17.
“I’m proud of them for their ‘never give up’ attitude throughout the whole season,” the Buc coach adds.
Audrey McDonald was 13 of 14 serving, scoring two aces and accounting for eight points. She also had three kills and led the team with 13 digs.
Haley Resutek was 8 for 10 serving. She had two aces and accounted for four points.
Nicole Krinke had six set assists. She also had five kills, four digs and one ace block.
Kylie Ahl also contributed six set assists along with five digs.
Ciarra Olson had four kills and two ace blocks and Elizabeth Ellis had one ace block.
The Bucs will not continue on in the playoffs, and their opponents will advance to take on St. Peter at?Mankato East on Tuesday.
Windom 3, BEA 0
The Blue Earth Area volleyball team hosted the Windom Eagles last Tuesday.
The first game of the match seemed as though the Bucs were ready for a fight. However, Windom took the match with a 3-0 win.
All three games ended in the Eagles favor, 25-23, 25-11 and 25-9.
Audrey McDonald led the way for serving. She was 16 for 17 at the back line scoring two aces and accounting for 10 points.
McDonald also led the team in digs (11) and kills (six).
Ciarra Olson was right behind McDonald in regard to digs. Olson managed to rack up 10 for the Bucs.
Nicole Krinke tallied eight set assists and had one ace block. Kylie Ahl also aided with two set assists.
The Buccaneers volleyball team traveled to Rochester to participate in the?Rochester Tournament.
They played two teams on Friday and two on Saturday and came home with one win and three losses.
Cannon Falls 2, BEA 0
The first team the Bucs faced was Cannon Falls who defeated Blue Earth Area in two games, 25-10 and 25-13.
Ciarra Olson was 4 for 5 at the service line and had one ace. She also led the team in kills (three).
Nicole Krinke had six set assists and was a perfect 4 for 4 serving.
Audrey McDonald had six digs for the Bucs. Rochester Lourdes 2, BEA?0
The Bucs also played against Rochester Lourdes on Friday and lost, 25-23 and 25-7.
Emma Olson was a perfect 5 for 5 at the service line in that game, scoring one ace.
Haley Resutek went 7 for 8 serving with one ace. She also had four digs.
Nicole Krinke had three kills and three set assists. BEA 2, St. Louis Park 0
The Buccaneers started Saturday on a good note when they defeated St. Louis Park, 29-27 and 25-16.
Nicole Krinke was on the ball and led her team in digs (11), set assists (five) and kills (five).
Kylie Ahl also aided by way of sets, accounting for five.
Rena Zierke was the force at the back line. She was a perfect 14 of 14 serving and scored six aces.
Ciarra Olson was 8 of 10 serving and had three aces. She also had three kills.
Audrey McDonald had three kills and four digs. Elizabeth Ellis had three kills and one ace block. Sam Ripley had one ace block.
Irondale 2, BEA 0
The last game of the tournament for the Bucs was against Irondale. BEA?may have suffered the loss but it was a close-scoring match, 25-19 and 25-22.
Ciarra Olson was hot at the service line during this match. She was 8 for 8 and had three ace points.
Olson also had four kills and one ace block.
Nicole Krinke had nine set assists and one ace block.
Audrey McDonald had six digs and four kills. Elizabeth Ellis also had four kills. Haley Resutek had four digs and Kylie Ahl had four set assists.
