MCA works magic on Bucs

The Blue Earth Area gymnastics team traveled on Thursday to take on the Martin County Area?Magic.

And while MCA powered ahead with their team total of 134.15 leaving the Bucs trailing with a score of 110.85 BEA gymnasts showed high scores in individual events.

MCA’s Breanna Peterson placed first in the all around competition with a score of 34.475. But, BEA gymnasts swept the rest of the category.

Haley Resutek came in a close second in all around with a score of 33.525. Erin Olson was third with a 28.25 and Malorie Huber was fourth with 25.575.

Resutek continued to score favorably, placing in three of the four events.

Resutek came in second place on the vault with a score of 8.9. She also came in second on the beam with an 8.1.

Her floor routine found her in a tie for first place with Martha Olson of MCA. They both scored 8.95 in that event.

The Bucs participated in the MCA?Magic Invitational on Saturday, after the Register deadline and will be featured in the next issue.

New Ulm 130.50, BEA 114.35

The Blue Earth Area gymnastics team may have fallen to the opposing team, but the match wasn’t a total loss.

The Buccaneers hosted the New Ulm Eagles Jan. 3 at the Winnebago gym, and New Ulm left with the victory.

But, Bucs’ senior gymnast Haley Resutek had a strong meet, placing in each event and all around.

She came in second for all around with a total score of 33.15. She had 7.95 on bars, 8.85 on vault, 8.225 on beam and 8.125 on floor.

Three New Ulm gymnasts swept the rest of the category. Molly Klimek was first with a total of 33.475, Emily Gulden was third with 32.675 and Michalea Howk was fourth with 31.425.

Resutek tied for first place in the uneven parallel bars with an average score of 7.95. Gulden of New Ulm also received an average score of 7.95.

Resutek went on to take second place on the vault. She received a best score of 8.85. The Bucs’ Melissa Hagedorn took fourth place in that event as well, with a best score of 8.625.

Resutek also placed on the beam. She scored an average of 8.225 which put her in second place.

The senior’s floor routine also put her in fourth place Resutek had an average score of 8.125 for that event.

BEA finished with a total of 114.35 points. They scored 33.675 on vault, 23.35 on bars, 27.15 on beam and 30.175 on floor.

New Ulm finished with a total of 130.50; 34.80 on vault, 30.175 on bars, 31.65 on beam and 33.875 on floor.

New Ulm also won the JV portion of the meet. They finished with a team total of 113.25; 31.90 on vault, 27.45 on bars, 26.15 on beam and 27.75 on floor.

The BEA JV?gymnasts finished with a team total of 76; 27.05 on vault, 12.20 on bars, 16.15 on beam and 20.60 on floor.

Mateja Lane took second in all around with a total of 20.85. Her strength was on the vault where she placed fourth with a best score of 7.75.

Arianna Nagel placed third in all around with teammate Hayley Jahnke coming in fourth.
