Baseball team tops Adrian in tourney
The Blue Earth Area baseball team couldn’t seem to keep up in their matchup against the St. Peter Saints last Tuesday.
The final score was 12-4 after seven innings. The Buccaneers didn’t muster their first run until the sixth inning.
The Saints started off the game scoring their first run in the first inning. They continued to bring runners across the plate for the first three innings.
By the bottom of the third the Saints were up seven runs while the Bucs still remained scoreless.
BEA?started off the sixth inning by finally bringing in three runs. St. Peter responded with five runs of their own.
The Bucs tried for more in the seventh but only managed one additional run, ending the game 12-4.
Jack Kennedy pitched five innings for the Bucs. He allowed seven runs from 10 hits and issued three walks. Kennedy also had four strikeouts.
Mathew Bell took the mound for one inning, allowing four walks, two hits resulting in five runs.
The four BEA players scoring runs were Luke Schavey (0 for 3 with one walk), David Franta (0 for 3 with one walk), Alex Stewart (1 for 3 with one walk) and Seth Anderson (2 for 4). Quinn Huisman was 1 for 2 taking one base on balls but didn’t score a run.
BEA?5, Adrian 2
Last Saturday the baseball team traveled to Windom to participate in a tournament. The first team they faced was Adrian.
This game was neck and neck during the beginning but ended with a Buccaneer win, 5-2.
The Bucs scored the first run in the second and the Dragons brought in their first run in the third. Both teams scored another run in the fourth.
They remained tied until the Bucs pulled ahead with the win, scoring three runs in the sixth.
Luke Schavey scored one for Bucs. He was 1 for 3 with a double.
David Franta was 1 for 3 scoring one run and stealing one base.
Alex Stewart was 2 for 3, with one run and one stolen base. Seth Anderson also scored a run and was 1 for 3.
Quinn Huisman was 1 for 3 at bat, hitting a double and scoring one run.
Huisman also took the mound for all six innings. He allowed six hits, two runs and seven walks. He also had one strikeout.
Windom 9, BEA 5
The Windom baseball team defeated the Buccaneers in the second game of the invitational last weekend. They pulled ahead with six runs in the first two innings, and continued to pull away, winning the game 9-5.
Alan Davids pitched for the Bucs, allowing nine hits two walks and nine runs, with one strikeout.
David Franta scored two runs for the Bucs and was 1 for 4 at bat.
Davids was 3 for 4, scoring one run and hitting a double and a triple.
Austin Gustafson and Cole Hendricksen both scored a run apiece for the Bucs.
St. James 11, BEA?1
The Blue Earth Area baseball team hosted the St. James Saints last Friday, May 2. Unfortunately, playing on their home turf did not give BEA an advantage as the Bucs suffered a loss, 11-1.
Alec Huber pitched for the Bucs for five innings. He allowed 10 hits, nine runs and two walks and had two strikeouts.
Alex Stewart pitched one innings and allowed three hits, two runs and one walk.
David Franta scored the one BEA run in the sixth inning and was 1 for 3.
