Tennis team downed by Eagles
The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer tennis team could only pull out two victories in their match against the New Ulm Eagles on Friday, May 2, and ended up losing 5-2.
The Bucs reached the plus column with victories from their No. 3 and No. 4 singles players.
Chandler Kienitz defeated a fellow sophomore when he took a 6-3, 6-4 win over Tim Haug of the Eagles at the No. 3 singles spot.
Then, at the No. 4 singles position, Buc senior Chance Andrews defeated Andrew Goodall, 6-3, 6-0.
BEA exchange student Leon Chaudhari took on Calvin Collum at the No. 1 singles spot and fell 6-2, 6-3.
The Bucs other senior player, Hunter Myers, was at the No. 2 singles slot and lost 6-1, 6-2 to junior Josh Koelpin.
The junior Buccaneer duo of Jaron King and Martin Granados lost to two Eagle juniors, Nic Gartner and Noah Stocker, by a score of 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 1 doubles position.
There was a close battle at the No. 2 doubles spot. BEA junior Justus Thielen and eighth-grader Spencer Petersen lost 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) to John Goodall and Taylor Tambormino.
At No. 3 doubles, BEA seventh-grader Parker Kienitz and eighth-grader Spenser Timmerman lost to Earl Forter and Kelby Stocker, 6-3, 6-0.
This week the Buccaneers host Luverne on Thursday, before competing in the South Central Conference Tournament on Saturday in Waseca.
