Bucs volleyball loses to Waseca, 3-0
Three players down with injuries may have contributed to the 3-0 loss against Waseca last Thursday.
The Blue Earth Area Volleyball team experienced it’s third loss of the season but the Buccaneer coach is still hopeful.
“We are still healing three girls,” the coach Donna Nawrocki said. “But, overall it was a good effort.”
Lindsey Norman, Devyn Braunshausen and Mariah Twedt are all sitting out due to injuries occurring in the first two matches.
The remaining players took on the Waseca Bluejays last Thursday in Waseca where the Bucs lost, 25-12 in the first match.
But, they shook it off and gave it their best shot in the second game, and the score came really close at 27-25.
“There were a few questionable calls in the second game that were not in our favor and at crucial times,” said the Buc coach. “But, we can only control our effort and attitude to how we respond.”
The Bucs continued to play tough, and the third game ended with just a two-point separation. Unfortunately ending in the Bluejays favor 26-24.
Alissa Norman led the team in digs and set assists racking up 12 of each. She also had four kills at the net for the Bucs.
Lindsey Jacobs was a perfect 15 for 15 at the service line scoring four ace points and accounting for 10 points for BEA. She also had eight digs and three kills.
Her sister Kaylor Jacobs was 12 for 12 serving with two ace points and scoring eight points for the Bucs. Kaylor also had 11 digs and three kills at the net.
Sam Barslou had four kills and nine digs.
The Bucs are at a 0-3 overall record this season and their loss against Waseca was their first conference game putting their conference record at 0-1.
This weekend the Bucs participated in the Luverne Tourney and results will be featured in next week’s issue of the Faribault County Register.
The Bucs will play their first home game against St. James on Tuesday, Sept. 9. They will play again next Thursday, Sept. 11 in St. Peter.
LSH 3, BEA?0
The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers volleyball team hosted Le Sueur-Henderson on Aug. 28 for the first home match of the season.
The match ended 3-0 in LSH’s favor; 25-10, 25-7 and 25-18.
Elizabeth Ellis led the team from behind the service line going 10 for 11, scoring one ace point and accounting for eight points. She also had one ace block.
Sam Barslou led the team in digs tallying 12. She also did well serving going for a perfect 7 for 7 and scoring two points.
Analicia Swanson was the only Buc player to tally kills against LSH and she had three. She also had one ace block.
Alissa Norman led BEA in set assists with four. Mariah Twedt had five digs, Devyn Braunshausen had six.
