Cross Country places at I-90 invite in Fairmont

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer cross country teams fared quite well at Thursday’s meet at Cedar Creek Park in Fairmont considering the wet, slippery conditions.

The boys team placed 4th out of 11 teams, and the girls team placed 9th.

Mike Ankeny and Zach Vaske each earned a medal, contributing significantly to the boys’ team score.

Boys varsity 5K:

Mike Ankeny, 4th, 17:17; Zach Vaske, 16th, 18:10; Alan Davids, 32nd, 19:01; Seth Becker, 33rd, 19:02; Brady Olsen, 45th, 19:39; Gabe Jacobsen, 61st, 20:02; Adam?Buseman, 66th, 20:09; Alex Benson, 81st, 20:43; Nick Shure, 88th, 21:07; Grant Strukel, 93rd, 21:10; Jaxx Jacobsen, 112th, 22:03; Jesus Quintero, 131st, 24:08; Sam Welker, 140th, 25:15; and Jack Nimz, 141st, 25:17.

As for boys JH 1.6K race, only one boy participated, but he also fared quite well: Blake Townsend, 8th, 8:53.

Four of the veteran girl runners posted their best times of the season in the 4K race at the I-90 Invite:

Mariah Halverson, 32nd, 17:16; Taylor Grandgenett, 36th, 17:31; Shayna Stevermer, 49th, 17:57; and Signe Olson, 56th, 18:19.

The other varsity girls ran a good 4K race as well:

Callie Stevermer, 58th, 18:24; Marissa Waddell 60th, 18:33; Melissa Hagedorn, 70th, 19:04; Athena Peterson, 82nd, 19:39;?Lexi Waddell, 91st, 20:12; Gabby Weerts, 98th, 20:27; Meredith Hagedorn, 99th, 20:34; Rowan Hacken, 101st, 20:45; Hadley Mensing, 109th, 21:34; Justina Gaydon, 112th, 21:56; Lindsey Phillips, 116th, 22:50; and Madeline Jenkins, 125th, 31:18.

As for the girls JH 1.6K race:

Amanda Jacobson, 13th, 6:54; Arianna Nagel, 29th, 7:27; and Hayley Jahnke, 34th, 8:15.
