Bucs fall to Trojans during Big South Crossover game
It was a crossover sweep last Tuesday, but unfortunately not in the Buccaneers’ favor.
The Blue Earth Area volleyball team traveled to Worthington to take on the Trojans for the Big South Conference crossover game between the west division and the east division teams.
Worthington won the match 3-0, with game scores of 25-16, 25-10 and 25-16.
“This was not our best night as a team, but we are still working hard,” coach Donna Nawrocki says.
The Trojans took an early lead in the first game and pulled ahead of the Bucs which led to the first loss for BEA.
The second set had a similar start, with Worthington scoring points early to get ahead of BEA. That game ended 25-10 in the Trojans’ favor.
At the start of the third game, the Bucs were warmed up and they took the early lead. However, the Trojans managed to pull ahead for their third win.
“The younger girls on our team have been getting a lot of experience this season,” Nawrocki says.
In fact, it was the BEA?freshmen and sophomores who were racking up most of the stats last Tuesday.
Samantha Barslou led the team in digs with eight and also went 7 for 8 serving, accounting for four points and three ace points.
Alissa Norman led the team in set assists with 12.
Lindsay Norman had four kills at the net, six digs and one ace block. She also went 6 for 7 serving, scoring three points.
Sophomore Samantha Ripley led the team with kills at the net with five.
