Pirsig to play for the Luther College basketball team

Hayley Pirsig, a 2010 graduate of Blue Earth Area High School, is a member of the Luther College women’s basketball program.

The Norse begin the 2014-15 campaign at the UW-Stevens Point Four-Team Tip-Off Tournament Nov. 15-16. Ripon will play Carthage at 1 p.m. on Nov. 15, followed by Luther vs. UW-Stevens Point at 3 p.m. The consolation game will take place at 1 p.m. followed by the title game at 3 p.m. on the Nov. 16.

Luther’s home opener will be Nov. 29 against UW-River Falls at 2 p.m. in the Regents Center.

All home basketball games will be available via video stream free of charge at – portal.stretchinternet.com/luther/ on the Luther College Athletics website.

Pirsig is the daughter of Kris Pirsig and David Pirsig, of Blue Earth.

Luther College is a four-year liberal arts college affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and is located in Decorah, Iowa. The Norse compete in 10 men’s and nine womens intercollegiate sports.

As a member of the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) since 1922, the men have won 161 conference championships. In 1982 the IIAC expanded its championship sponsorship to include womens sports. During this time span, the women have won 68 team titles. Combined, Luther is the first school in the Iowa Conference to capture 229 league titles.
