Bucs season comes to an end
The Buccaneer gymnasts competed in their final meet for the year, bringing their season to an end.
Blue Earth Area traveled to New Prague to compete in the Section meet held last Saturday, Feb. 14.
A total of 10 teams participated, including the maroon and gold. Unfortunately, the Bucs ended the season in the bottom of the pack.
BEA took 10th place over all with a total score of 109.55. They had a 30.85 on the vault, 23.5 on the bars, 27.6 on the beam and 27.6 on the floor.
The other teams placed in the following order:?Watertown-Mayor/Mound, first place; New Prague, second place; Mankato West, third place; Waconia, fourth place; Waseca, fifth place; New Ulm, sixth place; Mankato East, seventh place; St. Peter, eighth place; and Glencoe-Silver Lake, ninth place.
While she did not place, Erin Olson was the top scorer for the Bucs in all around. She had a total score of 29.975; 8.1 on vault, 7.675 on bars, 6.4 on beam and 7.8 on floor.
Brianna Ziegler had a total score of 27.050; 7.8 on vault, 5.025 on bars, 7.225 on beam and 7.0 on floor.
Sydney Blagg had a total score of 20.7; 7.7 on vault, 6.25 on beam, 6.750 on floor and did not compete on the bars.
Watertown-Mayer/Mound took the overall win with a total score of 145.725. They were first place with their floor exercises (38.150), first place on the beam (35.05), first on the vault (37.55) and second on the bars (34.975).
New Prague was the second place team with a team score of 143.750. They were second place on the vault, first place on the bar, third place on the beam, third place on the floor.
Mankato West came in a very close third place as a team with a total score of 141.2. They were third place on the vault, third place on the bars, second place on the beam and second place with their floor exercises.
Although the Bucs finished their last meet of the season in last place, they did improve over the season.
They started out a young and inexperienced team and accomplished their goal of gaining experience and confidence.
