Bucs 4th at invitational
It was a fourth place finish for the Blue Earth Area Buccaneer girls golf team at the New Ulm Eagle Invitational last Thursday afternoon.
The Bucs were led by Natali Fellows who fired a 98 for the 18 holes, with a 45 on the front nine and 53 on the back nine.
Her score put her in fourth place on the scoring list.
Malorie Scholtes had the Bucs second lowest score, coming in with a 110 (57-53). Signe Olson was one stroke behind with a 111 (51-60). These girls ended up in 13th and 15th place.
BEA’s other score for team total came from Ashley Petersen who came in with a 121 (60-61).
The Bucs other varsity scores were 122 (56-66) by Kaitlyn Olsen and a 128 (63-65) by Mateja Lane.
New Ulm and Fairmont tied for first place in the tournament, with New Ulm’s Corinne McKeeth and Fairmont’s Emily Kim also in a tie for medalist honors by both shooting scores of 88.
This week the Buccaneers will be back in New Ulm for a meet with the Eagles. Then they will head to St. Peter on Tuesday for another invitational tournament. BEA 227, St. James 237
The Blue Earth Area girls golf team shot a nice round last Monday afternoon and were able to defeat the St. James Saints by 10 strokes, 227 to 237.
Taking medalist honors and leading the Buccaneers was Natali Fellows who shot a 52 in windy and cool conditions.
Fellows nailed three pars on the nine hole round, but also had a tough 12 on the second hole.
Ashley Petersen came in with a 57 and Mateja Lane was right behind with a 58 for the Bucs.
Signe Olson and Malarie Scholtes both came in with a 60 to add to BEA’s overall team score of 227.
The Saints were led by Sophie Lepp who was one stroke behind BEA’s Fellows with a 53.
St. James also had both Julia Boeve and Kristin Leimer come in with scores of 59 and Jennifer Rodriquez score of 66 completed the Saint’s team score.
