Bucs fall to the Eagles

By Staff | Apr 27, 2015

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers almost downed the Eagles last Friday when they traveled to take on New Ulm.

However, the game ended with just a one run difference, 6-5, unfortunately not in the maroon and gold’s favor.

The Eagles kicked the scoring off during the first inning when their third batter in the lineup crossed home plate. The Bucs brought their first run in during the third inning, evening up the game.

From that point, it seemed the game was in the Buccaneer’s hands as they pulled ahead by scoring four more runs in the fifth and sixth innings while the Eagles were unable to bring in anything since their first run. So by the end of the sixth inning, the Bucs were in the lead 5-1.

However, the seventh inning slipped away from BEA and New Ulm scored five runs, enough to catch up with and pass the maroon and gold, ending the game 6-5. Alan Davids took the mound, pitching for the whole game. He allowed 11 hits, six runs and one walk and had four strikeouts.

Kaylan Legred was the first to score for the Bucs. He was 2 for 4 at bat scoring one run.

Jesus Quintero scored a run for BEA in the fifth inning after taking a base on balls. He was 0 for 2 at bat, taking two bases on balls and scoring one run.

Blake Peterson was 3 for 4 batting and scored a run in the sixth inning for the Buccaneers.

Cole Hendrickson was 1 for 3 at bat and also scored a run in the sixth.

Chris Sanders also scored one point for the maroon and gold during the sixth inning and was 0 for 2 at bat.
