BEA baseball team falls to the Saints, 13-3
The Blue Earth Area baseball team hosted the Fairmont Cardinals last Thursday evening.
However, the Buccaneers just couldn’t manage to find their footing and the Cards took home the win, 11-0.
The Cardinals took a quick and early lead by eight runs in the first innings. Fairmont scored again in the sixth when they brought in another three runs to end the game.
Logan Jahnke took the mound for BEA and pitched all six innings against Fairmont. He allowed seven hits, 11 runs, six walks and had six strikeouts.
Unfortunately the hits were just not happening for the maroon and gold.
Chris Sanders was 1 for 2 at bat and Kolt Gorg was also 1 for 2.
The Buccaneers played again at home on Friday night. However, that was after the Faribault County Register deadline and results will be featured in next week’s issue.
St. Peter 13, BEA 3
The Blue Earth Area baseball team traveled to St. Peter to take on the Saints last Tuesday.
However, the game ended in just five innings when the Saints won with a lead of 10 runs, 13-3.
The Saints started things off by bringing in four runs in the first inning, while the Bucs ended their half of the first inning scoreless after just three batters.
The Saints scored another run in the second bringing the score up to 5-0. However, the Bucs fought back and brought in three runs of their own in the second, closing the gap in the score and bumping it to 5-3.
The fourth and fifth innings were the deciding factor in the outcome of the game as the Bucs remained at just three runs. The Saints, however, managed to score an additional eight runs, bringing the game to an end.
Alan Davids pitched 3 2/3 innings for the maroon and gold. He allowed 10 hits and nine runs.
Cole Hendrickson pitched for one inning and he allowed four hits and four runs.
Luke Schavey was the first to score for BEA?but was 0 for 2 at bat.
Mathew Bell also scored a run for the Bucs during the second inning and he was a perfect 2 for 2 at the plate.
The last BEA run was scored by Kolt Gorg who was 1 for 2 hitting.
BEA 12, MCW 2
The Buccaneers traveled to Windom last Saturday to participate in a tournament.
They first faced off against Martin County West where they tallied a win after a six-inning game.
The maroon and gold brought in a total of 12 runs, while their opponents only managed two runs.
The Bucs kicked things off by scoring two runs with the first two batters of the first inning. Both Kaylan Legred and Jesus Quintero crossed home plate to score that inning.
BEA?moved into the second inning when they brought in five more runs, leaving MCW scoreless at that point.
The sixth inning the maroon and gold scored another set of five runs. However, the opposing team tried to play catch up and brought in their only two runs of the matchup.
Legred pitched for four innings. He allowed four bases on balls, three hits but no runs. He also had three strikeouts.
Luke Schavey pitched for the last two innings. He allowed four walks, two runs and had four strikeouts.
Legred also stepped up to bat for the Buccaneers. He was 2 for 4 at bat and scored three runs.
Quintero was 0 for 3 batting but crossed the plate twice for two BEA?runs.
Alan Davids was 1 for 3 at bat and scored a run in the sixth inning.
Jared Armon was 0 for 2 at the plate but earned one run for the maroon and gold in the second inning of the game.
Zack Schonrock was 1 for 2 at bat and scored one run in the second inning.
Windom 14, BEA?4
Later in the day on Saturday, the Buccaneer baseball team faced up against Windom.
The game started out fairly close in the first part of the game. Unfortunately, Windom pulled ahead and took the victory by the end of the sixth.
Kaylan Legred was 2 for 3 batting and scored one run in the third. His hit got him on base and he advanced by stealing second. Then a hit by his teammate got him onto third and in position to score. A hit by Alan Davids is what brought in the run.
Chris Sanders was 2 for 3 at bat and scored 2 runs for the maroon and gold. He scored in the first inning and in the third. A stolen base by Sanders in the first inning is what helped him get to third. A hit by his teammate Luke Schavey helped him to cross home plate.
Davids was 2 for 3 at bat and had one stolen base in the first inning and an RBI in the third.
Cole Hendrickson was 1 for 2 at bat and scored one run in the fifth inning. He took first base with his hit and stole second.
Jack Kennedy pitched 4 1/3 innings for BEA. He allowed seven hits, seven runs and six bases on balls. He also had one strikeout.
Collin Bell also took the mound for the Bucs, pitching one inning. Bell saw six hits, seven runs and one walk.
BEA?8, St. James 7
It was a close call last Friday as the Blue Earth Area Buccaneers hosted the St. James Saints.
The Saints pulled ahead with three runs in the first, but the Bucs answered with one run in the second and three in the third inning, putting them in the lead by the end of the third.
BEA scored again in the fourth, bringing in three more runs; pulling even further into the lead bumping the score up to 7-3.
In the fifth inning, St. James tried to close the gap in the score and scored two more runs. The Bucs matched that with another run of their own, putting the score at 8-5 with BEA?still in the lead.
St. James scored two runs in the sixth inning, putting them behind BEA?by just one run. However a strikeout brought the inning to an end.
Kaylan Legred was 2 for 3 at the plate, scoring two runs for the maroon and gold. He also served as the catcher for the Bucs.
Alan Davids was 1 for 2 at bat, scored two runs and had one RBI. He also pitched for one inning.
Luke Schavey was 1 for 4 at bat, scoring one run, hitting one double and one RBI.
Schavey also pitched for one inning, allowing one hit, two runs, one walk and two strikeouts.
Blake Peterson was 1 for 3 batting, scoring one run in the second. He also pitched for five innings. He allowed three hits, two walks, five runs and had five strikeouts.
