The Blue Earth Area girls track and field team hold up their True Team state championship trophy at Stillwater,

“What a day for BEA,” are the words head coach, Tom Plocker used as the Buccaneer girl’s track and field team won the state True Team title last Saturday in Stillwater.

With 399 points, the Blue Earth Area girls took first place. Holdingford was a mere 5.5 points away from tying with the Bucs with 393.5 points for second place, allowing third place to go to Luverne with 379.5 points. Fourth place went to Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton with 314.5 points, and fifth place went to Lake City with 310.5 points.

Plocker said the girls competed valiantly in each and every event to pull out their second-ever True Team title, with the previous title claimed in 2009.

The Bucs were down a half point going into the 4 x 400 finale, where a fantastic finish by Karli Olsen secured the exhilarating win.

“Every point and every performance mattered,” says Plocker, and those words could not be more true for the girl’s team.
