Pirates defeat Morries in a 10-0 victory

It was another victory for the Blue Earth boys last Wednesday night.

The Pirates baseball team hosted the Morristown?Morries in Blue Earth last Wednesday at 7:30?p.m.

The game started out a little slow for both teams, but by the end of seven innings, the Pirates had secured a strong 10-0 win.

The scoring kicked off with the Pirates who brought in the first two runs of the game during the fourth inning.

They scored one more run in the fifth and one in the sixth. It was in the seventh inning that their bats really started to heat up.

The Blue Earth boys brought in six runs in the seventh inning alone, completely shutting out their opponents.

Dallas Barslou pitched for six innings during the game. He faced 29 batters, allowed just eight hits and no runs. He also had four strikeouts.

Brady Anderson took the mound for the remaining inning and faced five batters allowing no hits or runs but had two walks.

TJ Stallman was 2 for 4 at bat accounting for one run.

Cody Sukalski was 2 for 3 at the plate. He had one run, hit one sacrifice and took one base on balls.

TJ Schmitdke was also 2 for 3 at bat. He scored one run in the seventh inning.

Brandyn Olsen was 1 for 3 hitting, taking one base on balls and scoring one run.

Bob Olson was 1 for 4 at bat accounting for two Pirates runs, one in the fourth inning and one in the seventh.

Lee Hodges took his turn scoring and brought in one run in the sixth inning.

Kane Malo was 1 for 3 at the plate. He scored two runs, one in the fourth and one in the seventh.

John Franta was 2 for 4 hitting and scored one run. He also accounted for three RBI, one double and one triple.

This win bumps the Pirates season record to 10-1.

Belle Plaine Tournament

The Pirates traveled to Belle Plaine last weekend to face three teams in the Belle Plaine Tournament.

By the end of the weekend, the Pirates had two wins, but lost their last game in the championship round.

Blue Earth 4, St. Louis Park 3

The Pirates seemed to have their work cut out for them right away during the first round of the tournament. They were up against the Saint Louis Park Pirates who are ranked seventh in Class A by the Minnesota Baseball Association.

St. Louis Park kicked things off by bringing in the first run in the first inning.

Blue Earth answered with a run of their own in the second inning, tying up the score.

The Blue Earth boys brought in another run in the sixth which brought them into the lead.

St. Louis Park was first up in the seventh inning when they pulled into the lead. They scored two runs in a row leaving them with a one-run advantage.

But Blue Earth scored two runs of their own in the bottom of the seventh for a 4-3 win.

Cody Sukalski took the mound for all seven innings. He allowed eight hits, three runs, one base on balls and had five strikeouts.

Sukalski was also 3 for 4 at bat, hitting one double and one RBI.

TJ?Stallman was 2 for 4 hitting. He scored one run in the seventh and he hit a double in the first inning.

Brandyn Olsen was 2 for 3 at bat. He scored one run, hit one RBI and took one base on balls.

Kane Malo took one base on balls and scored one run in the second inning.

Trent Sonnicksen was 1 for 2 at bat, scored one run, took one base on balls and stole a base.

Blue Earth 5, Stewartville-Racine 2

The second round of the tournament pitted the Pirates against the Stewartville-Racine Sharks.

The Pirates were the first to score. In fact, they brought in four runs in the second inning. This put them in a fast, early 4-0 lead by the second inning.

The Sharks responded with one run in the third inning. However, the Pirates scored another run in the fifth inning, pulling ahead with a 5-1 lead.

Stewartville-Racine tried to close the gap and scored another run in the seventh. But it just wasn’t enough and the Pirates came out the winners with a 5-2 victory.

Brandyn Olsen took the mound for Blue Earth, pitching all seven innings. He faced 30 batters but only allowed five hits, two runs and one base on balls. He also had two strikeouts.

TJ Stallman was 2 for 3 at bat for the Pirates scoring one run in the second inning. He also took one base on balls and accounted for three RBI.

Cody Sukalski was 2 for 4 at bat, scored one run, had one RBI?and hitting a triple in the fifth inning.

Lee Hodges was a perfect 3 for 3 hitting, scoring one run in the second inning.

Jim Franta was 2 for 3 and also scored a run for the Pirates during the second inning.

Trent Sonnicksen was 1 for 3 at bat and scored one run for Blue Earth.

Renner 5, Blue Earth 2

The championship round proved to be the biggest challenge for the Pirates and resulted in their first loss of the season.

They faced up against the Renner Monarchs out of South Dakota.

The Monarchs took the lead with a run in the second. They scored again in the third inning bringing in two more runs for a 3-0 lead.

The Pirates rebounded by scoring two runs in the fifth, but it was not enough. The Monarchs cemented their win by bringing in two more runs of their own in the fifth inning.

Trent Sonnicksen scored the first run for Blue Earth. He was 1 for 2 at bat and took one base on balls.

Brady Anderson scored the other run for the Pirates. He was 1 for 2 at bat.
