Pirates down Spiders, 8-1
The Pirates notched another win last week to get themselves back on track after suffering a couple losses the week before.
The Blue Earth baseball team traveled to Le Center where they faced the Cleveland Spiders last Tuesday night.
The game got off to a slow start, however it was the Pirates who turned things up during the later innings, eventually earning the 8-1 win.
The Pirates were the first to score when they brought two runs home in the fifth inning.
Cleveland responded with a run in the sixth inning.
However, as the game advanced, the Pirates powered ahead, scoring six more runs in the last three innings of the game.
Dallas Barslou was hot on the mound for Blue Earth and pitched all nine innings. He allowed six hits, one base on balls, and one run. He also had four strikeouts.
Lee Hodges was 1 for 3 at the plate and scored two runs for the Pirates. He also accounted for one RBI and one double.
John Franta took one base on balls in the seventh inning and he also stole a base. This lead him to score one run for Blue Earth.
Brandyn Olsen was 1 for 5 at bat, scoring one run and accounting for two RBI.
Garrett Anderson was 2 for 5 batting. He scored one run in the fifth inning and accounted for one RBI.
Carter Hanson was 1 for 4 at the plate and scored one run. He also took one base on balls.
Mathew Bell took one base on balls in the ninth inning which resulted in a run for the Pirates.
The Pirates are scheduled to play again July 10-11 in Shakopee in the Coors Light Classic.
