The Blue Earth Area volleyball team kicked off their season in a very close match against Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial.
The Buccaneers hosted the LCWM Knights last Tuesday night in their first game of the season.
This non-conference match is always a way for the team to assess where they are at, starting the season, Coach Donna Nawrocki had said.
And, if that is the case, the Bucs should do just fine throughout the year.
Although, they fell to their opponents in just three games, the maroon and gold girls kept fans guessing as to who would win each set.
The final match score was 3-0 with game scores of 25-18, 25-21 and 25-19.
“This was a good start by the team,” Nawrocki said after the match. “I’m very proud of their effort.”

Kaylor Jacobs also had seven kills for the Buccaneers. While, Lindsey Jacobs and Maddi Oelke had seven digs each.
Samantha Ripley used her height at the net to account for two ace blocks, while teammate Sofie Blair had one ace block.
“This should be a fun and exciting year,”?the maroon and gold’s coach adds.
The season continued with another non-conference game which was held on Thursday, Sept. 3.
