The Blue Earth Area girls tennis doubles team of Paige Darrington and Natali Fellows fell in both their first and second matches at the State Tennis Tournament on Thursday, ending their season.

The Bucs fell to the team of Rachel Kamath and Clare Palen of Rochester Lourdes by a score of 6-4, 6-1, in a match played at the Reed-Sweatt Family Tennis Center in Minneapolis.

The loss dropped the Buccaneer pair into the Consolation Bracket where they took on the doubles team from St. Peter, Kelli Hanson and Josie Carlson in a 2 p.m. match on Thursday afternoon.

Darrington and Fellows lost that match by a score of 6-3, 7-5.

Kia Legred of the United South Central Rebels tennis team was competing in the singles competition at the State Tournament.

Legred lost her first match to the No. 3 seeded Katie Mulvey of Trinity School at River Ridge by the score of 6-0, 6-0.

That dropped Legred down into the Consolation Bracket, where she took on Carlie Brandt of Le Sueur-Henderson and won by the score of 6-4, 6-2.

The win put the Rebel into the quarterfinals of the Consolation Bracket and she was set to play Ashley Kraemer of Osakis at 8 a.m. on Friday morning, after the deadline for this week’s Faribault County Register.
