By Staff | Feb 21, 2016

BEA’s Cole Klinkner goes for a takedown against his LCWM opponent.

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer wrestling team cruised to a win over the Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial Knights last Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Section 2A Wrestling Tournament held at United South Central High School in Wells.

But, the Buccaneers could not overcome a tough squad from Kenyon-Wanamingo and lost a chance to go to the State Wrestling Tournament.

Now, with the Buccaneer wrestlers’ team season over, the Bucs were set to participate in the Section 2A Individual Tournament set for this past Friday and Saturday, Feb. 19 and 20, after the deadline for this edition of the Faribault County Register.

Here is a rundown on last week’s Section Team Tournament finals.

BEA 45, LCWM 31

Jared Armon works for an escape against his K-W opponent.

The Buccaneers started off quickly with Caden Ochsendorf getting a 27 second pin over Trayton Hewitt at 106 pounds.

After Joe Schavey lost to Caleb Clobes, 14-2, at 113 pounds, the score stood at 6-4.

The Bucs would quickly expand that two-point lead to 23 points.

That all made the score 27-4 in favor of the Buccaneers.

Rylee McGuire lost to Jeremiah Colon by a pin at 145 pounds, but Zach Buseman won by a fall over Kalen Magers at 152.

Wyatt Tungland lost by a fall to Cooper Martens at 160 pounds and Roger Ziegler lost 7-0 to Junior Welsch at 170.
