Harry Schobert

Blue Earth Harry Henry Schobert, age 89, of Blue Earth, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont Lutz Wing. A funeral service was held Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016 North Blue Earth Lutheran Church in Brush Creek Township, Rev. Arne Bjelland officiated.

Harry Henry was born Nov. 27, 1927, in Blue Earth, the son of Michael and Hattie (Gottberg) Schobert. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. He attended Blue Earth Public School, participating in football, basketball, and track. In his younger years, Harry worked in construction, which included building the Bricelyn Public School. He was united in marriage to Donna Peterson June 21, 1953 at North Blue Earth Lutheran Church, and to this union two children were born. He farmed the Peterson family farm, raised hogs, and worked in the Owatonna Canning Company until his retirement in 1989. Harry was an active member of North Blue Earth Lutheran Church, where he served on the Council, was an usher, and was involved in Men’s Brotherhood and the church softball team. He was also active in the Brush Creek 4-H Club with his family. Harry was an avid John Deere man, and sports fan. He especially enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings. He also enjoyed dancing (following the Country Blazers), playing cards, watching sports, and especially watching any activity his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren participated in.

Harry is preceded in death by his parents; seven sisters, Marie Lutteke, Elsie Schobert, Florene Buss, Pearl Long, Margaret Raines, Laura Bonn, and Audrey Myers; six brothers-in-law; in-laws, Peter and Mae Peterson; and Donna’s siblings, and their spouses.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Donna, of Blue Earth; children, Debra (Fred) Redman, of Fairmont, and Michael (Stacey) Schobert, of Stevenson Ranch, California; grandchildren: Nicole (Greg) Bruegger, of Minnesota Lake, Angie (Chris) Anderson, of Chicago, Illinois, Jackson and Landon Schobert, of Stevenson Ranch; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Ally, and Abby Bruegger of Minnesota Lake, Drew, and Brady Anderson of Chicago; brother, Albert Schobert, of Blue Earth; and sister, Geraldine Gansmoe, of Blue Earth; many nieces, nephews and their families.
