Final Four Fundraiser coming up for Boosters
Buccaneers young and old are being beckoned to the hardwood for the Blue Earth Area Boys Basketball Boosters’ second annual Final Four Fundraiser, a two-part April 1 event featuring both an alumni tournament and March Madness viewing party.
“It’s really like two separate events on the same day,” said Colby Swanson, the Blue Earth Area High School’s varsity boys basketball coach. “We’ll probably have about four alumni teams for a tournament, and then there will be a silent auction at the viewing party later that night.”
A $20 ticket for the Boosters event gets guests an option to participate in the alumni tournament, which Swanson said will feature everyone from 1989 graduates to 2016-17 BEA High School seniors, as well as admission to the 5:45 p.m. viewing party at Elmore’s Bogey Bar and Grill.
“We’re hoping to have a girls game for the tournament, too,” said Swanson, who will be officiating the alumni contests starting at about 11 a.m. in the BEA High School gym. “And at the viewing party, we’ll be watching the actual games” from the NCAA’s men’s basketball tournament.
The Final Four matchups will not be the only thing offered at Bogey Bar and Grill, under new ownership at the Minn-Iowa Golf Course along Highway 169. The viewing party is also set to include appetizers and drinks, a raffle to win either $250 in cash or a 2017 single golf membership to the course, as well as the silent auction.
All proceeds from the event, one of the Boosters’ only fundraisers throughout the school year, will go toward the organization, which assists the BEA boys basketball program.
Swanson can be contacted for more information on the Final Four Fundraiser, or with questions on both the alumni tournament and viewing party, at cswanson@beas. blueearth.k12.mn.us.
Tickets for the event are available through both BEA boys basketball players and their families.
