At the Big South Conference Cross Country meet last Tuesday, Oct. 17, in St. Peter, the Blue Earth Area cross country teams both gave their all in the meet.

Grant Strukel has made All-Conference earning second place in the boy’s varsity 5K with a time of 16:51 while, from the girls team, Kaitlin Johnson made honorable mention in her varsity 5K earning 13th place with a time of 22:11.

“Grant grabbed All-BSC honors for the second straight year with a superlative personal record over Shoreland Golf Club’s challenging terrain,” said head coach Tom Plocker. “Kaitlin was totally spent after her run, and for good reason. She earned a personal record on this hill-infested course and also earned All-BSC Honorable Mention in this, her rookie cross country season.”

The Buccaneer girls earned fifth place for the meet with 120 points. Windom nabbed fourth place with 115 points while Redwood Valley earned third with 106 points. Second place went to Pipestone which earned 66 points as a team and the ever-swift team from Luverne earned first place with a team point total of 27.

The boys did not fair as well, earning sixth place for the day with 148 points. Windom beat out the Buc boys for fifth with 122 points, followed by Pipestone for fourth with 113 points. Redwood?Valley nabbed third place during the boys race with 82 team points, while Luverne stuck it out for second with 77 points. St. James took away first with 19 points.

Girls Varsity- 5,000 meters: Callie Stevermer (23:02), Melissa Hagedorn (23:40), Arianna Nagel (24:36), Gabby Weerts (27:59), Emma Germain (28:21), Amanda Jacobson (34:14).

Girls JV- 5,000 meters: Elizabeth Jacobson (31:17), Jazmin Lopez (32:40), Hayley Jahnke (41:49).

Boys Results:

Boys Varsity- 5,000 meters: Brady Olsen (18:25), Jacob Dikken (21:03), Eric Becker (21:54), Cameron Germain (22:08), Blake Townsend (22:25).

Boys JV- 5,000 meters: Angel Martinez (22:00), Alex Dikken (25:00), Carson Strukel (27:36), Shane Levenhagen (28:33), James Greer (29:11).

The highly-anticipated Section meet will be held here at the Riverside Town & Country Golf Course on Thursday, Oct. 26, at 4 p.m.
