BEA gymnasts go on the road and defeat Saints
A really big win.
The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer girls gymnastics team scored a big victory over the St. James Area Saints on Friday, Jan. 26, in St. James.
The Bucs came home with a huge 112.725 to 101.200 win.
The Buccaneers had a gymnast in first place in all the events but one, the balance beam.
BEA’s Haley Kalis scored an 8.4 on the vault for first place, while Adrianna Reddick had 8.15 for second and Melissa Hagedorn 8.0 for fourth.
On the uneven parallel bars, Kalis took first with a 7.175, Hagedorn second with a 7.1 and Reddick third with a 6.55. Katie Allis placed fifth with a 5.3.
It was Hagedorn taking first on the floor exercise with an 8.35, while Reddick was in second with a 7.65. Sydney Blagg took fifth with a 7.125.
St. James Area grabbed first place in the balance beam rotation, but Blagg nabbed second with a score of 7.2, and Hagedorn was in fourth with a 7.125.
Hagedorn also placed first in all around with a score of 30.575. The Saints took second and third, but Reddick placed fourth with her scores of 26.850.
The scores per event were BEA winning vault 32 to 30.350, uneven bars 26.125 to 19.300, floor exercise 30.025 to 25.125, while St. James Area won beam 26.425 to 24.575.
The BEA junior varsity also won, downing St. James Area 87.900 to 46.800. The Bucs swept many of the events, with Aubree Nagel and Hayley Jahnke taking first and second respectively in all around.
The Buccaneers had a tougher time of it when they faced the Martin County Area gymnasts on Tuesday, Jan. 30. The Bucs fell 135.650 to 115.350.
The maroon and gold gymnasts only had one team member crack the top five places during the meet.
Melissa Hagedorn took second in vault with her score of 8.775. She also was fourth in floor exercise with her score of 8.5.
Hagedorn took second in all around with a score of 32.275, while teammate Arianna Nagel placed second in all around with a 27.700.
The Buccaneer junior varsity also fell to MCA, losing by a score of 120.500 to 95.350.
