BEA tennis falls to St. James; Sections this week

The BEA Buccaneer tennis team took time to pose for a team photo after a recent meet. They will compete as a team and as individuals this week at the Section Tennis Tournaments.

On a hot, 85 degree day last Thursday in St. James, the Blue Earth Area Buccaneer boys tennis team suffered a 7-0 loss at the hands of the Saints.

BEA’s Jack Frundt led off at No. 1 singles, and lost 6-2, 6-3, to Lucas Doll.

At the No. 2 singles spot, Parker Kienitz fell 6-2, 6-1, the Saints’ Ben Foss.

Marcos Gonzalez moved into the No. 3 singles position for the match, and lost to Zoie Becker, 6-0, 6-0. It was Calvin Farrow at No. 4 singles, falling 6-0, 6-0, to Nick Brey.

In doubles action, Nick Frundt and Vern Johnson took on Brandon Johnson and Dalton Wolle at the No. 1 doubles slot and lost 6-0, 6-0.

The Buc duo of James Greer and Jack Barke lost 6-1, 6-0, to Landon Hoppe and Trey Witcraft at No. 2 doubles.

At No. 3 doubles, Jacob Olson and Jonathan Hill paired up to play against Josue Solorzan and Sawyer Evans, and lost 6-1, 6-0.

Next up for the tennis Buccaneers is the Section Team Tournament on Monday, May 21 and Wednesday, May 23, with the Individual Section Tournament action on Thursday and Friday at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter.
