BEA places third at triangular meet
While the girls were off at State True Team, the Blue Earth Area boys track team headed to St. James for a triangular meet.
The boys were third out of three for the day with 43 points, against Redwood Valley who came in second with 65.5 points, and St. James who placed first with 77.5 points.
With superb weather, the boys did a fair job of placing throughout the categories that day.
Alex Reese had a phenomenal showing and earned first place in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 45.07. Reese also enjoyed success in the 800 meter run as he finished second with a time of 2:17.09.
Meanwhile, Buc teammate Ben Babcock placed first in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.99. Riley Anderson came in a close second behind Babcock with a time of 12.07. Anderson also placed first in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.58, while Babcock followed close behind to earn second with a time of 24.65.
Babcock’s success continued in the long jump with a first place finish and a distance of 18-5.
Xavier Morrow was able to place second in the triple jump with a distance of 24-7 1/2.
The BEA 4×400 meter relay team comprised of Babcock (61.0), Morrow (62.0), Anderson (65.8), and Reese (54.9) were also able to place second for the relay race that day in St. James.
1600 meter run: Nate Phippen (fifth, 5:53.67).
800 meter run: Jacob Dikken (third, 2:17.52), Cameron Germain (fifth, 2:24.22), Derek Lium (2:50.42).
110 meter high hurdles: Owen Naumann (third, 20.22).
300 meter int. hurdles: Owen Naumann (fifth, 54.49).
100 meter dash: Nick Frank (14.12).
400 meter dash: Xavier Morrow (fourth, 61.77), Keagan Ihle (fifth, 62.46), Nick Frank (65.50).
200 meter dash: Nick Frank (29.02).
Long jump: Jacob Dikken (fourth, 15-11 1/2).
High jump: Alex Reese (third, 4-6).
Triple jump: Owen Naumann (29-7 1/2).
Shot put: Keagan Ihle (30-9).
Discus: Johnny Hynes (fourth, 82-9), Keagan Ihle (fifth, 82-7).
