The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer boys tennis team’s season as a team came to an abrupt end last Monday afternoon when they lost 7-0 to Rochester Lourdes in the quarterfinals of the Section 1A Team Tennis Tournament.

However, the Bucs’ season as individuals continued last Thursday and Friday as they competed in the Section 1A Individual Tennis Tournament.

That tennis competition occurred after the early deadline for this week’s Faribault County Register and will be included in the next edition.

On Monday, the No. 8 seeded Buccaneers struggled mightily against the No. 1 seeded Eagles from Lourdes. The Bucs only managed to win three games in the 14 sets played at the Rochester Lourdes indoor courts.

Blue Earth Area’s Jack Frundt lost 6-0, 6-0, to Kevin Turlington at No. 1 singles, while Parker Kienitz at No. 2 singles also lost 6-0, 6-0, to Eric Chestolowski, and Nick Frundt also fell by the same 6-0, 6-0, score at No. 3 singles to Jonathan Onigkeit.

At No. 4 singles, Vern Johnson lost 6-0, 6-1, to Marjan Veldic.

Unfortunately for maroon and gold supporters, it was similar results with the doubles competition.

Jack Barke and Jacob Olson lost 6-0, 6-0, to Pavao Veldic and Nick Pittner at No. 1 doubles.

The Buccaneer duo of James Greer and Jonathan Hill teamed up at No. 2 doubles and lost 6-2, 6-0, to Thomas Eckel and Freddie Suhler.

It was Marcos Gonzalez and Calvin Farrow at No. 3 doubles, and they lost 6-0, 6-0, to Birch Lewis and William Rooke.
