Two Blue Earth Area Buccaneer baseball players were recognized for their contributions to the team in 2018.
Senior Bobby Lindsey was one of 18 high school players selected as a BSC All-Conference performer. Meanwhile, junior Karson Legred was among nine players who earned honorable mention.
Seven schools from the Big Division were represented on the All-Conference team, while five schools were represented for the distinction of honorable mention.
For Lindsey, one of the highlights of the season was a 3-for-4 performance with two RBIs and three runs scored in BEA’s 11-8 playoff victory over Cannon Falls on May 24. Afterwards, Buc head coach Todd Schmidtke said Lindsey was the catalyst for the offense.
“Whether it was getting hits, stealing a base or scoring runs, everything he did was pretty important,” Schmidtke explained.
“He set the table for our offense, and everyone else pitched in. It was a great team win for us.”
As for Legred, he was tasked with the assignment of taking over catching duties in place of his older brother, Kaylan Legred, who now attends the University of Minnesota, in Duluth.
Schmidtke was pleased with the development of both Lindsey and Legred.
“These kids are good teammates and they love baseball, so they’re going to work hard and be very coachable,” Schmidtke says. “That’s the main thing for high school baseball.”
