BEA tennis cruising to big wins

The Buccaneers’ Britt Howard makes a return in her doubles match with teammate Cali Beyer. The duo took a 6-0, 6-0, sweep of their RVC opponents.

The Blue Earth Area girls tennis team had little problem taking care of business and cruised to a 7-0 win over River Valley Co-op last Tuesday afternoon in Blue Earth.

None of the seven matches were even close.

Ta Armstrong got things going for the Bucs with a 6-0, 6-0, shut out at No. 1 singles over Brooklyn Moldan.

At No. 2 singles, Arika Howard downed Kaydince Thomas 61, 6-1. Macie Stevermer defeated Liv Nelson, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 3 singles.

McKenna Dutton ended the singles competition the way it started, with a 6-0, 6-0, shut out over Meghan Stevens at No. 4 singles.

It was the same story in doubles action.

Maddie McCleary and Carissa Engesser teamed up at No. 1 doubles for a 6-0, 6-1, win over Sydne Wahl and Kirstyn Markquardt.

The Buc duo of Cali Beyer and Britt Howard had a 6-0, 6-0, shut out against Presley Dockter and Alexis Garza at No. 2 doubles.

And, Lyndsey Borris and Phoebe Loge had a 6-1, 6-0 victory over J Park and Kierra Lafferty at No. 3 doubles, to finish up the clean sweep.

BEA 6, Luverne 1

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer girls tennis team continued its winning ways with a 6-1 victory over Luverne on Monday, Sept. 10.

The Big South Conference match had been postponed from its scheduled date due to rain the week before.

In singles action, Ta Armstrong downed Carissa Cunningham, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 1 singles.

It was BEA’s Arika Howard shutting out Riley Severtson, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles.

At No. 3 singles, Macie Stevermer defeated Ainslie Robinson 6-2, 6-1.

And McKenna Dutton finished up the singles bracket with a 6-2, 6-3, win over Liz Kelm at No. 4 singles.

In doubles action, Carissa Engesser and Sydney Blagg lost a close one, 7-6 (5), 2-6, 6-1, at No. 1 doubles.

Britt Howard and Cali Beyer teamed up for a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 three set win over Mela Jarchow and Brynn Their at No. 2 doubles.

At No. 3 doubles, Maddie McCleary and Lyndsey Borris defeated Lauren Ver Steeg and Solveig Tofteland, 6-3, 6-4.

BEA 7, Tri-City United/ Cleveland Co-op 0

While a couple of the matches were close, the BEA Buccaneers cruised to a 7-0 shut out of the girls from Tri-City United/Cleveland Co-op on Saturday, Sept. 8.

At No. 1 singles, Ta Armstrong took on Kadi Lowe and the Buccaneer won it in three sets, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2.

Arika Howard shut down Amelia Schatz at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Macie Stevermer nearly did the same thing, defeating Josie Plut 6-1, 6-0, at No. 3 singles.

And at No. 4 singles, McKenna Dutton beat Jenna Weiers 6-1, 6-2.

In doubles action, the Buccaneer duo of Carissa Engesser and Sydney Blagg downed Brittany Tiede and Geena Ehlers 6-4, 6-1, at No. 1 doubles.

At No. 2 doubles, Britt Howard and Cali Beyer combined for a 6-2, 6-1 win over Monserrat Ruiz and Jordan Squires.

BEA’s Maddie McCleary and Lyndsey Borris had a tough fight to victory at No. 3 doubles, as they downed Mackenzie Holmbo and Morgan Mueller, 6-2, 3-6. 10-8.
