Buc wrestlers have big week

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer wrestling team made a clean sweep of it in a triangular meet on Thursday night, Dec. 13, at home.

The Bucs downed the New Ulm Eagles in the first match of the evening, 48-24. Then they soundly defeated the New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva Panthers in the second match, 64-6.

The Bucs had eight matches in seven days, and ended with a 5-3 record over that span.

Here is a recap of last Thursday’s matches.

BEA 48, New Ulm 24

The Bucs started off behind when Carson Sturtz was pinned at 106 pounds. However, Ty Peterson won an 8-2 decision at 113 for three points and Davis Sunken had an 11-2 major decision at 120 for four points.

Then the Bucs got three six point wins in a row, when Caleb Beeler won by forfeit at 126 pounds. Jacob Beeler at 132 and Jaxen Klinkner at 138 both won by pins. That put BEA up 25-6.

Max Ehrich at 145 pounds and Koby Nagel at 152 both lost decisions, while Kean Hicks won by a fall at 160. Nick Frank lost by a fall at 170, and Dominic Whitlow won by forfeit.

At 195 pounds, Akeira Morrow won a 16-1 technical fall decision for five points and Eric Anderson won by a forfeit at 220. Nick Lawrence lost by a pin at 285.

BEA 64, NRHEG 6

It was nearly a clean sweep by the Bucs over the Panthers.

Carson Sturtz won by a fall at 106 pounds, with Ty Peterson winning by a forfeit at 113.

Both Davis Sunken at 120 pounds and Caleb Beeler at 126 won by technical falls. Jacob Beeler won a 7-6 decision at 126 and Jaxen Klinkner won with a pin at 138.

Max Ehrich had a 13-3 major decision at 145 pounds, while Koby Nagel added a 17-2 technical fall at 152. Kean Hicks won with a pin at 160 and Nick Frank won by forfeit at 170.

NRHEG got on the board when Dominic Whitlow lost 10-8 at 182 pounds. Akeira Morrow at 195 and Eric Anderson at 220 both won with pins. Nick Lawrence lost a 6-2 decision at 285 pounds.
