Armstrong, Kalis named all-conference
Two of Blue Earth Area’s young gymnasts made the Big South Conference All-Conference Team this year. They are eighth-grader Haley Kalis, and seventh-grader Addison Armstrong.
Their coach, Rachel Cole, had many good things to say about the duo and their season. She says she sees big things on the horizon for these young athletes.
“Haley was just short of making the All-Conference team last season, so it was no surprise to me that she would make it this season. She is always hard-working in the gym and excited to be there, and she never turns down an opportunity to better herself both in and out of the gym,” says Cole. “She is laser-focused on what she needs to get accomplished and always has a positive attitude. Even though she is only in eighth grade, she has all of the qualities of a great team leader.”
Armstrong is also an up and comer whom Cole says could go far in gymnastics.
“Addison has a lot of natural athletic ability and that combined with her competitive attitude is what makes her such a strong gymnast,” says BEA’s head coach. “She is not afraid to try new things, she always brings plenty of energy to practice.”
Cole says these two athletes are good friends and work well together, constantly pushing one another to do better.
As for the two Buccaneers, they are eager to grow during the off season and bring their skills to a new level next season.
“I thought we were very successful this year as a team,” says Kalis. “And as individuals, we made a lot of improvement. I am already really excited for working in the off-season and looking forward to next year.”
