Two named to BSC all-conference team
The Blue Earth Area dynamic duo of Caitlin Rorman and Hannah Johnson were honored for their outstanding basketball play by being named to the Big South Conference All-Conference Team for the 2018-19 season.
This was the fourth time Rorman has been selected for the all-conference team while Johnson was named to the squad for the second consecutive season.
“I felt they were both very deserving,” BEA girls head coach Al Cue said. “They both spent a lot of time working on their basketball skills. I am glad others recognized their achievements.”
Both Rorman and Johnson are seniors. They helped lead the Bucs to a 13-11 record this past season.
Rorman led the team in scoring this year with 635 points for a 26.5 per game average. It put her in the No. 2-position on the all-time single season scoring list.
Her 2,031 career points is second in school history to former University of Minnesota standout Shannon Swanson (Schonrock).
Rorman was far from a one-dimensional player. She also led the team in rebounding this season by hauling in 203 boards. She also was credited with 59 steals and 52 assists.
Johnson finished her high school basketball career by averaging 13 points per game in her final season. She also pulled down 6.1 rebounds per game and had a total of 58 steals and 37 assists.
The Bucs finished fourth in the Big South Conference East Division with a 4-6 record. They were eliminated in post season play by the St. Peter Saints, who went on to qualify for the Minnesota State Girls Basketball Tournament.
