Relay teams run to victory in Mankato

At the Mankato East Indoor meet on Thursday, March 28, the BEA boys track team was able to place second for the day with 79 points, behind Mankato East with 180. Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton placed third with 38 points, and Metro Deaf placed fourth with four points. Cristo Rey placed fifth with three team points.

BEA was hard to beat when it came to its relay teams. The boys 4×200 team consisting of Waylen Douglas (26.0), Riley Anderson (26.4), Carson Anderson (24.5) and Ben Babcock (25.1) came in first with a complete time of 1:42.0.

The 4×400 meter relay team comprised of Adam Griffin (61.6), Grant Strukel (57.4), Cameron Germain (59.6), and Brady Olsen (55.9) earned second place with a time of 3:54.

The Buc boys duplicated their success in the 4×800 meter relay event, earning second place with a time of 10:09, by Germain (2:29.5), Angel Martinez (2:25.7), Tate Thielfoldt (2:28.3), and Nate Phippen (2:46.2).

BEA’s boys also had a third place win during the medley relay with a time of 4:25.8 thanks to Zac Murphy (26.4), Gunnar Fering (26.3), Thielfoldt (60.6), and Xavier Morrow (2:33.5).

Individually, the boys had several first place wins including Fering’s run during the 60 meter high hurdles. He placed first with a time of 9.5 seconds. In high jump, Brady Olsen earned first place with a 5-10 jump, and in the long jump, Babcock earned first with a 19-10 3/4 jump.

Girls results:

The Buccaneer girls track team came away with a third place win with 53 points. Mankato East earned 179 points for the meet while JWP scooped up second place with 56 points. Cristo Rey came in fourth with four team points.

Two of BEA’s girl relay teams placed first for the day, as well as two individuals.

The 4×200 meter relay team consisting of Ta Armstrong (29.4), Lauren Bleess (30.8), Sidney Blair (31.4), and Caitlin Rorman (30.7) earned first place with a time of 2:02.2, while the 4×400 meter relay team comprised of Amanda Jacobson (67.1) Addison Armstrong (69.9), Bleess (71.9), and Rorman (73.2) also earned first with a total time of 4:42.3.

Amanda Jacobson placed first in the 400 meter dash with a time of 65.0 seconds, while teammate Ta Armstrong earned first in the shot put with a throw of 29-1.

Blue Earth Area traveled to the campus of Minnesota State-Mankato for an indoor track meet on Thursday, April 4. Results of the meet will be in next week’s edition of the Faribault County Register.

The Bucs begin their outdoor track season with a meet in St. James on April 9. They host an invitational track meet at Wilson Field on April 12.
