Golfers victorious in opening golf meets

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer boys golf team had an amazing five players score under 40 last Tuesday night on the Minn-Iowa Golf Course in a tri-angular meet.
The Buc boys shot a 144 for the win, with Fairmont coming in with a 176 and Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther/Truman scoring a team total 222.
BEA’s Gaven Bruellman led the way with a one under par 34, giving him medalist honors. Bruellman started on hole No. 9 and proceeded to birdie his first three holes.
Hunter Spencer and Manning Lane both carded identical scores of 36, while Ashton Lloyd added a 38 for the team total of 144.
Braden Gudahl shot a 39 and Max Ehrich a 44 to round out the Bucs’ varsity scores.
Fairmont was led by Alexander Moeller who had a 38, while Colby Grotte shot a 44, Tanner DeWar a 46 and Mathew Cone a 48.
Wyatt Risk had a 48 for GHEC/ML/T with Mitchell Sueber at 52, and Brett Davis and Colby Brudelle carding 61s.
For the Buccaneer junior varsity squad, Caleb Beeler led the way with a 44 followed by his brother Jacob Beeler with a 45. Nathan Murphy had a 52 and Ty Peterson and Zach Kramer tied at 53 the JV’s score of 194.

Maple River 169
The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers boys golf team got off to a fast start to the 2019 season with a big win in their first meet.
The Bucs took on the Maple River Eagles in a match last Monday on the Minn-Iowa Golf Course near Elmore.
BEA had four varsity golfers score 40 or lower to tally a 154-169 victory over Maple River.
The Buccaneers were led by Hunter Spencer who came in with a two-over-par 37.
He was followed by three Bucs who scored right in a row behind Spencer’s 37. Braden Gudahl carded a 38 while teammate Manning Lane shot a 39 and Ashton Lloyd had an even 40 to tally the Bucs’ team score of 154.
The other two Buc varsity players were Gaven Bruellman with a 42 and Max Ehrich who had an even 50.
For the Eagles of Maple River, Andrew Hoppe led with a one-under par 35, which gave him medalist honors for the nine-hole meet.
Mason Sohr carded a 37, Grant Klein a 47 and Teien Murphy an even 50 for the Eagles’ score of 169.
For the junior varsity score, BEA had a 208 with Nate Murphy and Kale Frank each shooting 50s, Kohl Jacobsen a 52 and Caleb Beeler a 56. Maple River had an incomplete score for JV.
