Girls down MCW, gear up for section

Mateja Lane holds up Big South Conference all-conference certificate she earned at the BSC conference meet held at the Rose Lake Golf Course in Fairmont.

The Blue Earth Area girls golf team had one of its members score well enough at the Big South Conference Meet last Monday at the Rose Lake Golf Course in Fairmont that she made the BSC All-Conference Honors List.

Mateja Lane came in with a 91 score to make it onto the list.

Other Buccaneer scores were Serina Wirth with a 101, Claire Jordan who carded a 109, and Olivia Stewart with a 112.

Those four scores gave the Bucs a team total of 413 and put them into 10th place at the tourney.

BEA’s other two varsity players were Kylie Rosenau with a 114 and Lyndsey Borris with a 127.

Marshall and Waseca tied for the BSC championship with both teams shooting 356. Fairmont was third with a 369. St. Peter was fourth with 383, followed by New Ulm fifth at 387, Worthington sixth at 394, Pipestone and Luverne tied for seventh with 396 each, Windom ninth with 412, just one stroke lower than the Bucs who were 10th. Jackson County Central was 11th at 429 and Redwood Falls was 12th with 478.

The Buccaneers were next slated to start the Section Tournament in New Prague on Friday, May 24, after the Register’s deadline. Details will be included in the next edition.

Jordan Invite

The Buccaneer girls ended up in sixth place at the Jordan Invitational Golf Meet held on Thursday, May 16 at the Ridges at Sand Creek Golf Course.

The Bucs shot a team total of 427.

Leading the way was Mateja Lane who came in with a score of 95, which was good for 15th place.

Claire Jordan shot a 102, putting her in 22nd place. Maddie Armon carded a 113 for 28th place and Liz Beeler shot a 118 for 31st place.

BEA’s other two varsity golfers were Kylie Rosenau who came in with a 118 and was in 32nd place, and Olivia Stewart who shot 120 for 33rd place.

New Ulm won the meet with a team score of 355 and one of their golfers, Jana Julia Boquet, was medalist with a score of 78.

Jordan was second with 357, Waseca third at 361, St. Peter fourth with 386 and Fairmont fifth with 391.

The meet was not on the Buccaneers original schedule but was added when another team could not make the Jordan Invite.

BEA 208, MCW 236

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer girls golf team notched a win on Tuesday, May 14, when they defeated Martin County West by a score of 208 to 236.

Mateja Lane shot a 42 and was the medalist for the meet.

Maddie Armon came in with a 51, Olivia Stewart a 56 and Serina Wirth shot a 59 for the team’s total of 208.

The Bucs other two varsity players were Kylie Rosenau who shot a 61 and Liz Beeler who came in with a 66.
