Lane finishes 11th, Armon 20th at section
Blue Earth Area’s two girl golfers who had scored low enough at the Section 2AA Golf Meet on the first day and advanced to the Day 2 round, did not advance on to the State Golf Meet.
But, one came very close.
Mateja Lane had shot a 93 (45-48) on Day 1, which was played on Wednesday, May 29, at The Legacy Golf Course north of Faribault.
It had originally been scheduled for Friday, May 24, at the New Prague Country Club, but was moved due to too much water on the New Prague course.
Day 2 of the tournament was back at New Prague last Monday, June 3. Lane carded a better score, a 91 (46-45), which gave her a total of 184.
That score put her in 11th place. However, the five lowest scoring golfers, who are not on the team that is going to the state, also get to go state. Lane had five state bound team members and five other golfers in front of her with lower scores, who were not on the state-bound Jordan team.
That meant Lane missed a trip to State by just one placement.
BEA’s other golfer who qualified to move on to Day 2, was Maddie Armon.
Armon had carded a 105 (52-53) on Day 1, and then followed it up with a 108 (54-54) on Day 2, which gave her a total of 213 and put her in 20th place.
