Track athletes will compete at state

There are three BEA tracksters heading to state: Thomas Lindsey, Sophie Keister and Ben Babcock.

BEA’s neighbors to the east, United South Central, unfortunately had no state qualifiers from their track team. According to their coach John Soucheray, he hopes to have state qualifiers within the next few years.

On Saturday, June 1, at the Section 2A Championship at Mankato West, the three Buccaneers were able to qualify for state. Lindsey earned first place in the pole vault competition with a 13-9 vault. Keister earned a personal record during the high jump, placing second with a 5-2 jump. Babcock also placed second and made a personal record during the long jump where he had a 20-9 1/2 jump.

Eight other BEA tracksters earned All-Section medals. Those tracksters include individuals Babcock for his 42-2 3/4 triple jump landing him in third place, Amanda Jacobson for her 63.12 400 meter dash giving her fifth place, Eloise Blair also earned fifth place in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles with a 48.40 second time, Brady Olson placed third with a 6-1 high jump.

All-Section medalist relay teams include the 4×200 meter relay boys team consisting of Waylen Douglas (24.3), Adam Griffin (24.0), Brady Olsen (23.0), Carson Anderson (24.1) who earned fifth place with a season best time of 1:34.69, the 4×200 meter relay girls team consisting of Amanda Jacobson (27.1), Lauren Bleess (27.2), Ta Armstrong (27.7) and Hannah Johnson (28.4) for a fifth place finish with a season best time of 1:50.49.

The 4×100 meter relay teams also earned All-Section medals. The boys team includes Douglas, Austin Thielfoldt, Riley Anderson, and Ben Babcock who earned a fourth-place time of 45.83, and the girls team includes Armstrong, Sidney Blair, Lauren Bleess and Caitlin Rorman who earned a sixth place time of 54.85.

300 meter int. hurdles: Lauren Bleess (15th, 54.37).

200 meter dash: Carson Anderson (11th, 24.46), Ta Armstrong (14th, 28.94).

3200 meter run: Grant Strukel (eighth, 10:33.08).

Shot put: Nick Frank (eighth, 40-10 1/2), Zac Murphy (15th, 37-2 1/2), Alyssa Ripley (16th, 29-1 1/2).

Discus: Nick Frank (10th, 114-2).
