Tennis team continues winning ways
The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers rolled to another victory in tennis when they went on the road to defeat the River Valley Wildcats 7-0. The non-conference win improved BEA’s record to 10-0 for the season.
Ta Armstrong defeated River Valley’s Brooklyn Molden 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Teammate Macie Stevermer did not lose a game while downing Kaydince Thomas 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
Arika Howard defeated Lexanna Lazatin 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. BEA’s Marissa Benz completed the sweep in singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Kierra Lafferty at No. 4 singles.
McKenna Dutton and Britt Howard kept the momentum going for the Bucs with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Denis Demirturk and Meghan Stevens at No. 1 doubles.
BEA’s No. 2 doubles team of Cali Beyer and Lyndsey Borris needed only 12 games to earn their 6-0, 6-0 victory over Sydne Wahl and Erica Lanzano. The No. 3 doubles team of Addison Armstrong and Kiley Rosenau also were victorious by a shutout with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Presley Dockter and Jasmyne Windschitl.
BEA 7, TCU/Cleveland 0
The Blue Earth Area girls tennis team did not lose a set last Saturday, Sept. 7, when they defeated the Tri-City United/Cleveland Titans 7-0.
It was the ninth win against zero defeats for the Class A No. 6-ranked Bucs.
Ta Armstrong was victorious over Erica Jackson at No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-1. Macie Stevermer served up another victory at No. 2 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Josie Plut.
Arika Howard did not lose a game while defeating Monserrat Ruiz 6-0, 6-0 at third singles.
Marissa Benz made it a clean sweep in the singles matches with her 6-1, 6-1 win over Maggie Maroita at No. 4 singles.
The No. 1 doubles team of McKenna Dutton and Britt Howard downed Geena Ehlers and Allie Schley 6-0, 6-1.The No. 2 doubles match featured Cali Beyer and Lindsey Borris winning over Morgan Muller and Mackenzie Holumbo 6-1, 6-1.
The Buc’s No. 3 doubles team of Addison Armstrong and Kiley Rosenau closed out the meet with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Rachel Rynda and Rachele Mazza.
The Bucs were scheduled to host the Waseca Bluejays at Schroeder Courts on Thursday, Sept. 12. However due to inclement weather the teams were unable to play.
BEA was scheduled to travel to Mankato on Saturday, Sept 14, to compete in the Mankato West Invitational.
The Bucs travel to St. Peter on Tuesday, Sept. 17, to take on the Saints. They return home on Thursday, Sept. 19 to host the New Ulm Eagles.
