BEA girls get a big win
Not only did the Blue Earth Area Buccaneer volleyball team get their second win of the season, they did it in high fashion.
The Bucs swept the Knights of Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial in three games, with all three games having the identical same scores of 25-20.
“The team continues to improve and are getting stronger on offense while staying aggressive at the net on defense,” Buccaneer coach Donna Nawrocki said after the win. “A great combined effort by the whole team.”
The stats prove it was indeed a whole team effort.
Brita Hougen led the team in kills with eight, while also having eight digs.
Alicia Machacek and Heidi Hermann each had five kills, and both also had four ace blocks.
Gabby Haaland had four kills and Eloise Blair had two, as well as a team leading 15 digs.
At the service line, Natalie Huse was 21 of 22 serving, with two ace serves and 16 service points.
Emma Langager was 15 of 17 from the line with two ace serves and 13 points.
And, Liz Beeler was 10 of 11 serving with six points. She also had 22 set assists and seven digs for the Knights.
“We had some very strong serving that helped us get the win,” coach Nawrocki said. “Natalie Huse and Emma Langager came off the bench and served very well.”
The win puts the team’s season record at 2-23 and they are 1-9 in the Big South Conference. They travel to Le Sueur Monday, then start Section play Thursday.
