Teams, players awarded for academic success
Two Blue Earth Area sports teams and two individuals have received post-season academic honors.
The girls tennis team was awarded the Academic Gold Award by the Minnesota Tennis Coaches Association (MTCA) for having a 3.942 Grade Point Average (GPA).
“It was an excellent award for them,” tennis head coach Konny Wolf said. “I am proud of them.”
The football team also garnered an award for their work in the classroom.
The boys of the grid-iron received the Class AA Academic All State Silver award. The award from the Minnesota Football Coaches Association (MFCA) places them as one of the top 14 schools academically in the state among Class AA schools.
Macie Stevermer was awarded an individual Academic All-State Award in tennis by the MTCA.
Jack Frundt was selected for the MFCA All-State Academic Team for Class AA in football.
The girls tennis team and the football team both had great success during the season.
Both teams were section champions in their respective sports and were state tournament qualifiers.
