Bucs pin 52-7 loss on Rebels

BEA wrestler Kean Hicks works on securing the takedown against his USC opponent. The Bucs took on the Rebels in Wells on Thursday, Dec. 12, and came home with a 52-7 victory. It was the third straight victory for BEA in dual meets this year.

BEA 52, USC 7

The Blue Earth Area wrestling team traveled to Wells on Thursday, Dec. 12, to take on the USC Rebels. Before the meet, it was decided there would be 13 matches and there would be no match at 195 pounds.

USC scored the first team points, but it was BEA who came away with the 52-7 victory.

Byron Getchell of USC won a narrow 4-3 decision over Caleb Langager at 106 pounds to give the Rebels a 3-0 lead.

Carson Sturtz put the Bucs in front for good when he recorded a fall over Janis Baumgartner in 1:34 in the 113-pound match.

Ty Peterson scored a 5-0 over USC’s Bryce Sonnek at 120 pounds to put BEA on top 9-3.

The Bucs won the next two matches by forfeits. Davis Sunken at 126 pounds and Jacob Beeler at 132 pounds got credit for the wins which put the Maroon and Gold up 21-3.

BEA’s Caleb Beeler earned a 9-1 major decision over Ethan Elvebak in the 138-pound match to give the Bucs a 25-3 lead.

USC forfeited the 145-pound match to Jaxen Klinkner. Nick Nelson added to the Bucs’ total with an 11-4 major decision over Konner Harpestad at 152 pounds. BEA now led 35-3.

The 160-pound match saw Micah Hamson of USC win by a major decision over Cole Warmka to make the score 35-7 in favor of BEA.

Kean Hicks earned a major decision for the Bucs with his 12-2 win over Matt Beyer at 170 pounds.

The Bucs won another major decision in the 182-pound match when Nick Frank defeated Jacob Billings 11-1. BEA now led by a score of 43-7.

The match at 220 pounds was a close one. BEA’s Nick Lawrence scored an escape in the second period for the only point of the contest and a 1-0 victory.

The last match of the evening was the 285-pound match which the Bucs’ Zach Christensen won by forfeit to give BEA a 52-7 win.
