Two of Blue Earth Area’s young gymnasts made the Big South Conference All-Conference Team this year. They are ninth-grader Haley Kalis, and eighth-grader Addison Armstrong.

Their coach, Rachel Cole, had many good things to say about the duo and their season. She says she sees big things on the horizon for these young athletes.

“I am so happy and proud of these hard-working girls. They were both on the all-conference team last year and so it was a goal for them again this season,” says the coach. “Both of them showed immense improvement this season. Haley got stronger, which helped her execution significantly. She was a top three All-Around finisher in nearly all of our conference meets. She earned her highest all-around score this season and saw her vault and floor scores go from mid-eights to high eights and low nines.”

“Addison’s consistency improved this year and she also added a handful of new skills to help her improve her scores on every event,” adds Cole. “What an awesome feat for such young athletes. These two have so much talent, I’m excited to see what their gymnastics future has in store for them.”

Cole says these two athletes are good friends and work well together, constantly pushing one another to do better.

As for the two Buccaneers, they are eager to grow during the off season and bring their skills to a new level next season.

“I thought we were very successful this year as a team,” says Kalis. “And as individuals, we made a lot of improvement. I am already really excited for working in the off-season and looking forward to next year.”
