McKenna Dutton eyes the ball before scoring another point for the Bucs at No. 1 doubles.

The Blue Earth Area girls tennis team went up against the Waseca Bluejays for the second time in four days when they played host to their Big South Conference foes in Blue Earth on Aug. 31.

BEA coach Konny Wolff juggled her line up a bit to create some different matchups for her team but the result was the same as their previous match, as the Bucs were once again 7-0 victors over the Bluejays.

BEA recorded their first win of the meet when Lyndsey Borris and Arika Howard defeated Nicola DeJager and Miranda Breck in the No. 2 doubles match 6-3, 6-1.

Marissa Benz moved from No. 2 singles to No. 3 singles and produced a 6-2, 6-0 victory over the Bluejays’ Hannah Berndt.

Senior Arika Howard moved from her normal spot as a singles player to play with classmate McKenna Dutton at No. 1 doubles. Howard and Dutton downed Waseca’s Emily Farley and Tanika Johnson, 6-3, 6-1, to put BEA up 3-0 just over an hour into the meet.

Ta Armstrong secured the win for the Bucs when she defeated Cece Huttmeir 6-0, 6-0, in the No. 1 singles match.

At No. 4 singles it was BEA’s Kylie Rosenau earning a 6-3, 6-2 win over Brooke Hayes. It was Rosenau’s first match as a singles player this year. She has previously played at No. 1 doubles with Dutton.

Addison Armstrong, who has been playing at No. 3 singles slid into the No. 2 singles match and came away with a 6-1, 6-1, triumph over Sarah Robbins.

The final match of the contest saw Cali Beyer and Olivia Dutton of the Bucs down Grace Lapides and Jewel Paulson 6-2 in the first set of the No. 4 doubles match. The BEA duo did not lose a game in the second set, winning 6-0.

The Bucs traveled to New Ulm on Sept. 3, to face the Eagles for the second time this season. They will continue to play on the road with a match at Sleepy Eye High School against River Valley on Sept. 8 before traveling west to take on their I-90 rival, the Fairmont Cardinals in Fairmont, on Sept. 10.
