Rebel girls win 2 more close ones

Delaney Weber and the USC girls tennis team defeated Belle Plaine and Maple River in tennis action this past week.

The United South Central Rebels girls tennis team continued their streak of having close matches and pulling out the victory.

The Rebels took a 4-3 win over Belle Plaine on Tuesday, Sept. 29. USC took all four singles matches and lost all three doubles matches.

Delaney Weber started things off with a 6-1, 6-0, win at No. 1 singles over Emma Driehorst.

At No. 2 singles, it was USC’s Alyson Swanson downing Elissa Moonen in three sets, 6-2, 4-6, 6-0.

Kelsie Chapman defeated Lydia Sparby, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 3 singles.

It was a close all the way big battle at No. 4 singles, but the Rebels’ Elizabeth Romano won a long 7-6 (10), 7-5, match over Kayla Streich.

In doubles action, Macy Zebro and Maya Zebro lost a three set match to Kadence Bran de Leon and Lauren Johnson, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2, at No. 1 doubles.

At No. 2 doubles, Olivia Schwartz and Lauren Zebro fell 6-4, 7-5, to Amilia Messer and Courtney Eppen.

And, at No. 3 doubles, Hanna Olson and Brooklyn Yokiel lost by a similar score of 6-4, 7-5, to Elliana Fahey and Joelea Koepp.

USC 5, Maple River 2

The Rebels girls tennis team of United South Central continued on their winning ways with a 5-2 victory over Maple River on Thursday, Sept. 24.

The Rebels split the singles matches with the Eagles, but then swept the doubles matches to notch the 5-2 win.

In doubles action, Macy Zebro and Maya Zebro paired up to take on Kelsey Jaeger and Kayla Berg at No. 1 doubles and came out with a 6-2, 6-1 win.

At No. 2 doubles, Lauren Zebro and Olivia Schwartz downed Macy Sohre and Madison Ward by scores of 6-2, 6-1.

The Rebel duo of Hanna Olson and Brooklyn Yokiel defeated Mackenzie Walters and Ellie Braaten in three sets, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1.

The Rebels’ Delaney Weber lost 6-1, 6-1, to Olivia Pfeffer at No. 1 singles.

Alyson Swanson came back with a 6-2, 6-0, win at No. 2 singles over Leah Proehl.

Kelsie Chapman lost her No. 3 singles match in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 7-5, to the Eagles’ Ally Mersman.

And, at No. 4 singles, the Rebels’ Elizabeth Romano defeated Lauren Maas by a score of 6-2, 6-2.
