Manning Lane has had an impressive high school career at Blue Earth Area. Now, he hopes to continue his success at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, beginning with the fall season of 2021.

The senior was an Big South Conference All-Conference award winner his 7th-10th grade years. Manning, like other high school golfers from around the state, did not get to compete last year because of COVID-19.

“He is a heck of a young man. He works hard and comes from a good family,” Iowa Lakes golf coach Kris Graewin says. “I cannot wait for him to be a part of the Triton family.”

Besides his individual accomplishments, Manning was also part of the Buccaneers golf team which qualified for the Minnesota State Tournament in his eighth, ninth and 10th grade seasons.

“He was also an All-State player his sophomore year,” BEA golf coach Travis Armstrong comments. “He finished 10th in the state with a stroke average of 74.7. He was also the Section medalist as a ninth grader.”

Lane will be joining a team which is currently ranked sixth in the National Junior College Athletic Association rankings.

“I am excited to see what we can do this spring as a team at Iowa Central,” Graewin says. “Then we will add Manning for the fall season and go from there.”

Manning is happy to have the decision of where to go to college over and done with.

“It was a big step going through the process,” Lane says. “I fell in love with the school during my visit. I like the coach and what he is doing with the team.”

Right now he is just hoping to have one last chance to play with his teammates at the high school level.

“It was not fun having our season canceled last year,” Lane says. “I am anxious for us to have one more shot at seeing how far we can go.”
