Rebel wrestlers improve record to 4-1
The United South Central Rebel wrestling team continued its winning ways with a very close victory over the New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva Panthers on Thursday, Jan. 21.
The final score was USC 38, NRHEG 36. The win came despite the Rebels giving up five forfeits.
Kolt Bullerman got things started for the Rebels with a 14-0 major decision over Seth Staloch at 106 pounds. USC then had to forfeit at 113 pounds.
Byron Getchell won by a fall at 1:50 at 120 pounds over Annabelle Petsinger. Bryce Sonnek won by a fall at 1:10 against Aidan Schlaak at 126, Gavin Bird defeated Daltyn Harshman at 138 with a fall at 3:58, and Ethan Elvebak took a close 5-4 decision over Nikolas Petsinger at 138.
After USC forfeited at 145 pounds, Konner Harpestad won by a fall at :27 over Deven Parpart at 152 and Micah Hamson scored a 13-5 major decision at 160 over Clay Stenzel.
The Rebels lost the next three matches, by a forfeit 170 pounds, by a fall at 182 and another forfeit at 195.
USC’s Matt Beyer took a 10-6 win over Max Seltun at 220 to secure the win, as the Rebels had to forfeit at 285.
Next up for USC was a match against WEM-JWP last Thursday, Jan. 28. Details will be in the next edition of the Faribault County Register.
