Rebel girls lose game against Vikings
The United South Central Rebel girls basketball team hosted the Hayfield Vikings on Friday night, Jan. 29, and ended up losing 51 to 37.
The Rebels were outscored 22-14 in the first half, then played much more even ball in the second half, trailing the Vikings 29-23 in the second stanza.
Leading the way for the Rebel girls was Izzy O’Rourke who score eight points and had eight rebounds as well.
Three players added six points each to the team tally. Hannah Meyer, Josie Schumann and Hannah Olson each scored six. Schumann was the team leader in rebounds with 17, while Meyer added four.
Dani Kirkeide, Maya Zebro and Maya Zebro each had three points in the game, while Lexi Johnson had two. Maya Zebro added five rebounds.
As a team the Rebels were 12 of 41 from two-point range for 29 percent, two of 10 from behind the 3-point arc for 20 percent and seven of 19 for free throws for 37 percent.
The Vikings shot 40 percent, 14 of 35 attempts, from 2-point range for 40 percent and two of 15 from 3-point range for 13 percent. However, they made 17 of 29 free-throws for 59 percent.
Next up for the Rebel girls is a trip to Maple River on Tuesday night, Feb. 9, and then a home game against Bethlehem Academy on Friday, Feb. 12.
