Low temperatures once again greeted area golfers on Tuesday, April 20, when six Big South Conference teams gathered for an invitational meet at Shoreland Country Club in St. Peter.

Temperatures were in the 40s and the wind was gusty as the golfers took the course.

Blue Earth Area finished in second place with a score of 321, seven shots behind St. Peter’s score of 314. Fairmont finished in third place with a 339, Jackson County Central had 349, Redwood Valley tallied a 354 and Waseca finished with a 368.

The Bucs’ Manning Lane turned in a round of 73 on the 18-hole course to finish in second place behind the Saints’ Kaiden Brovold, who recorded a 72.

Lane had nine pars and three birdies and finished four strokes over par.

Braden Gudahl finished in sixth place for BEA with an 11-over-par 80. The senior lefty had three birdies and six pars.

Gavin Storbeck turned in a round of 83 to finish in 11th place overall.

Max Ehrich carded an 85 to tie for 15th place and supply the Bucs’ final counting score for the event.

Storbeck and Ehrich each had one birdie on the day. Storbeck recorded seven pars while Ehrich had five.

BEA’s other golfers were Ashton Lloyd and Nate Murphy.

Lloyd’s round of 88 included eight pars and was good for a 19th place finish. Murphy shot a 93 with four pars to put him in 26th place.

BEA returns to action on Monday, April 26, when they travel to Fairmont for a six-team tournament. In addition to the Cardinals and the Bucs, the other teams competing at Interlaken Golf Course will be St. Peter, JCC, New Ulm and Waseca.
